I just saw this. I’m thinking that it might be something worthwhile once I’m working on feature films. For those wondering, I’ve applied for a scriptwriting course in 2011, which will lead to writing a feature script. As a producer, getting into feature film script development interests me. But I think having written a feature myself would be extremely beneficial before looking into feature script development in a producing role.
Development Tools – Character, Story & Structure
NZFC is delighted to announce that Jonathan Rawlinson and Simon van der Borgh (Contented Productions) will run their popular three-day Development Tools course in Auckland from 9-11 December 2010. The workshop is aimed at development executives, producers, script consultants, script readers, talent agents and others working in the area of feature film script development. Participants will learn how to identify the main character in a screenplay, develop compelling characters and how to use character development to develop and clarify screenplay structure. The course also looks at the different types of dramatic tension and how to use them to improve screenplays.
Application deadline 5pm on Friday 19 November 2010.
Limited travel assistance is available for those attending from outside Auckland. Applications must be made via email as a single document to Development Coordinator Faith Dennis at faith@nzfilm.co.nz. Please refer to the separate call document or contact Faith for further information.
