In July 2013, I took part in the inaugural Action On The Side. I produced one of the two films, ‘Elle Fatale‘.
The creator asked me if I wanted to help to organise the event. I gladly accepted. We ran Action On The Side in October 2013, where we produced three films, ‘Soap’, ‘Facetracker’, and ‘WhosApp’. Check out the website for more on Action On The Side
Action On The Side (AOTS) is a London-based skills development filmmaking project that has run since 2013. Designed to fit around busy schedules, the AOTS group makes a short film across four weekends. It is aimed at new entrants to screen media, filmmakers new to London, filmmakers trying new crew roles or to get a film idea made. The films have 10-30 people on set. I facilitate the training sessions; produce each AOTS project; promote the event and group; and maintain its online presence. The project has grown to include script development workshops, a script competition and an internship programme. On set, I am the producer, the DIT, and the trainer for all crew roles. I liaise with all departments in production and postproduction and ensure the workflow is followed and deadlines met. I arrange the distribution and marketing of each completed film.
