In 2009, I initiated an event called Cinema SoundEX. For the inaugural event, filmmakers made a 2-3 minute short film, to which composers wrote, recorded, and synced a soundtrack. There were 6 composers and 2 filmmakers; I made six short films. These were screened at Happy on 25 November 2009.
For the 2010 Cinema SoundEX, filmmakers were asked to make a 2-3 minute short film, and composers were asked to write and record a 2-3 minute soundtrack. The films and soundtracks were then swapped; the filmmakers made a short to the soundtracks, and the composers made a soundtrack to the films. (I was, however, the only filmmaker who registered). I made five short films. These were screened at Happy on 7 July 2010.
I would have loved to have made Cinema SoundEX an annual event. With more advertising, I believe more filmmakers and composers would come on board.
